Gluten-free
Both formulas are made without wheat, oat, barley or rye derived ingredients. See our FAQ for why we take this seriously.
The glass
Because our bottles are amber glass, and glass can carry lead and cadmium, we have our bottles tested by an independently accredited third-party laboratory for extractable lead and cadmium.
Who
EMSL Analytical, Inc. of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory. Last reported July 14, 2026, revised July 30, 2026.
How
Why that method
ASTM itself describes this method as severe. It is designed to accelerate the release of metals well beyond anything a bottle encounters in normal use, which is exactly why we chose it.
What came back
For scale: lead
Over 3,400 times under the FDA line.
The FDA uses this same test on ceramic dishware. Its strictest lead limit: 0.5 ppm. Our bottle: 0.000145 ppm.
For scale: cadmium
At least 1,000 times under the FDA line.
The FDA's strictest cadmium limit for ceramic dishware: 0.25 ppm. Our bottle: below 0.00025 ppm.
Our glass manufacturer confirms the same glass formulation, the same raw materials and the same production process across all the glass they make for us, with no additional materials introduced.
And what we are not saying. ASTM C738 has no pass or fail to give, and a laboratory reports data rather than verdicts. We do not describe our glass as lead-free. What we do say is that the lead reported sat barely above the laboratory's detection floor, that cadmium was not detected at all, and that these results are consistent with the substance-restriction requirements of the TPCH Model Toxics in Packaging Legislation. None of this means a cleaning product is for drinking.
Retail and wholesale partners can request the full laboratory report. See Wholesale.
